Virat Kohli Bags India’s PETA Person Of The Year Award For 2019

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has added another feather to his cap. The cricketer, who’s a vegetarian and animal lover, has bagged the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s Person of the Year for 2019. This afternoon, the official website of PETA announced Virat Kohli as the Person Of the Year. Virat Kohli and his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma often make headlines for their love for animals. Their love for animals is clearly visible in their social media posts.

PETA’s India Director of Celebrity and Public Relations Sachin Bangera said in the statement, “Virat Kohli is a fierce animal rights a proponent who never hesitates to run out cruelty to animals any way he can. Givings details of Virat’s Kohli’s deeds for animals, PETA’s statement read, “His efforts to improve conditions for animals include sending a letter on PETA India’s behalf to officials calling for the release of Malti, an elephant used for rides at Amer Fort who in one incident was reportedly violently beaten by eight men.”

Not only this Virat also helped PETA India call for The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, to be updated in order to deter acts of violence towards animals through stronger penalties for abusers and has done much more. For instance, he reportedly swung by an animal shelter in Bengaluru to give lots of love to those injured and formerly neglected dogs there and to send a message to fans to adopt animal companions and never buy them from breeders or pet stores.
